Vale – Jeff Lawton

The AFL Outer East is saddened to hear of the passing last week of our 2020 Volunteer of the year, Jeff Lawton.

We pass on our deepest condolences to Jeff’s family and friends.

Jeff was a quiet man who kept to himself but his contribution to our competitions was enormous.

He spent many a lunch break over 5 years or more researching at the State Library and other sources compiling our competitions history of senior results. Using this information and more, Jeff was also the author of the long running Grapevine Record column – Kieko’s History.

Although Jeff’s heart was with the Gembrook Cockatoo FNC Brookers, he would often be seen at other grounds watching his “match of the day” with camera in hand.

RIP Jeff, the legacy of information you have left for all our clubs and administration will live on forever!
