Upwey-Tecoma Life Member Blair Sheppard has called time on his football career with the Tigers after this weekend’s loss to Woori Yallock by 16 points.
Sheppard informed the Upwey-Tecoma playing group last Thursday, citing that the effort required to be fit for each week had become to much, despite still remaining in good shape to the untrained eye.
Sheppard first played for the Upwey-Tecoma senior club in 2004 when he played one game for the Under 18 side. He went on to play 39 games in the Under 18’s, winning a premiership in 2006, the same year that he debuted in the Reserves. Sheppard then made his first appearance in the Tigers Senior side the following season.
Sheppard added to his 2006 Under 18 Premiership with a 2009 Reserves Premiership, a year where he kicked 22 goals from 16 games, and the 2011 Senior Premiership. Sheppard kicked 16 goals from 21 games in the Tiger’s Premiership year.
Sheppard was awarded Club Life Membership in 2018 for notching over 200 club games. He has played five games for the Upwey-Tecoma Senior side this season, kicking three goals and playing in both of the Tigers 2019 Premier Division victories.
