Monbulk FNC – 2022 Season Preview

Monbulk Football Netball Club are another entity who are excited to get back into the spirit of community sport and the enjoyment it brings, off the back of a great pre-season campaign.

With all coaching positions across football and netball remaining the same, this has provided a stable platform for teams to train hard over the off-season, as the Hawks prepare to make the step up into premier division for the first time.

Club president Grant Dennison was pleased with the efforts of his club in preparing for season 2022, saying all teams are ready to have a crack this year.

“The feedback from pre-season training has been really good across both sports,” he said.

“The netballers have done a few activities around town to lighten things up and the footy teams have been very sharp.”

With strong numbers in football, the senior group is virtually unchanged with heavyweights Tom Taylor, Lochlan Beecroft and Taylor Joyce to return.

With great numbers reflected in Under 19’s, a tremendous sign of growth for the future, the reserves are tracking along with reasonable numbers, but the club hopes more will return once the cricket season finishes.

The Hawks are just shy of having enough numbers to fill an entire women’s team and hope to compete in Outer East women’s football once again.

The club also hope to have enough numbers to fill all senior sides, as they continue their recruitment drive to successfully fill all teams.

The novelty of getting back into community sport and socialising with all club members is what appeals most to Dennison, as he looks forward to bringing everyone together again.

“We are just looking forward to getting our participation numbers back to where they were,” he explained.

“I know everyone is really excited and they just want to get a decent run at the new building too for the purposes of social activities.”

Stepping up into premier division for the first time, the club are looking forward to the challenge of once again competing in the top tier of the competition.

In season 2022, the Hawks will be able to renew old rivalries with the likes of Olinda Ferny Creek, Upwey Tecoma and Woori Yallock while the opportunity of playing Narre Warren for the first time provides a great deal of excitement.

“The closer we get, the more motivated we are,” Dennsion said.

“The committee and our entire club are ready to go, they’re chomping at the bit to get into it too.”
