Ahead of its final home game in their current club rooms this weekend before making use of a brand-new multi-purpose facility, Alexandra Football Netball Club are still chasing some much needs funds in order to complete the project which will not only benefit the club, but the entire community.
$600,000 saw the completion of stages one and two which created a high-quality netball precinct and stages three and four are almost complete which includes a community building, rooftop solar panels, power upgrade to the reserve and new hi-tech oval lighting to the venue.
Stages three and four have seen the cost go to a further $2.04 million, taking the total amount of the project to $2.64 million to date.
However, with just weeks to go until the Rebels begin to make use of the new facilities and a formal opening of the precinct planned for later in the year, an additional $200,000 is needed to cover additional, unforeseen costs that were not included in the original estimates in 2017.
Additional works that have come at an extra cost to the project include the demolition of the existing building, laying out a new car park, general reserve landscaping aswell as additional regulatory requirements and increased standards.
Costs have been impacted as a result of lapsed time in commencing the redevelopment works due to the arrival of government funds, COVID-19 related impacts and other factors outside of the control of the project team.
To complete the works, Alexandra Football Netball Club have set up a fundraising effort which is registered through the Australian Sports Foundation.
All donations towards the fund will ensure that the finishing touches to the project are completed with quality and in a timely manner.
The Rebels will look forward to making use of the renovated facility upon its completion, of which its design and capacities are something typically found in regional cities or large urban centres.
The new 21st century standard facility will be one which the entire Alexandra community can be proud of.
The Alexandra Football Netball Club kindly invites anyone who is in a position to donate to the completion of the project to head to https://bit.ly/3bKUPQb.
A donation of any size will be welcomed and well appreciated by the Alexandra community.
