Concussion definition: An injury to the brain caused by an impact on the head, or the body with force transmitted to the head.
Protecting the short and long term health of people participating in any Outer East Football Netball (OEFN) competition is a priority of the league. If a player is suspected of sustaining a concussion OEFN suggest a conservative approach, and align with the AFL’s Management of Sport-Related Concussion in Australian Football document.
OEFN Bylaws:
47.5.11 Concussion: Any player who is suspected of suffering from concussion must immediately cease playing or training and seek medical advice.
47.5.12 Players who have suffered a concussion must NOT return to training or playing for a minimum of 21 days and must also receive a Doctors clearance to do so.
47.5.13 Any player who suffers a concussion must follow the process in the AFL’s, MANAGEMENT OF SPORT-RELATED CONCUSSION IN AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL policy.
