Women’s Football
Thornton Eildon finished last in the Karcher Senior Women’s Football Division, winning two games and losing 10.
They struggled to kick big scores, averaging 16 points per game, whilst conceding 68.
There were a few season highlights, headlined by their two wins, one of which was massive.
In Round 6 they pulverised Seville 8.9 57 to 2.6 18.
Hilary Myles had a day out bagging four goals, whilst Tahnee Heard, Catherine Hoinville, Rose Kealy and Emma McCready all chimed in with a goal.
Round 9 saw a victory for Thornton Eildon also, defeating eventual Premier Monbulk 8.4 52 to 6.9 45.
Hoinville was dominant again, this time booting four goals, whilst Hilary Myles was great again with two of her own. Isabella Weston kicked one of her own.
In total, Catherine Hoinville kicked eight goals, whilst Hilary Myles was next on six for the season.
They had a handful of gun players, with a few dominating almost every week.
These players were Lucy McRae, Catherine Hoinville, Isabella Weston and Rose Kealy.
Hoinville was acknowledged for her outstanding season with a spot on the wing in Team of the Year.
Knowing that they beat the two teams directly above them on the ladder, Thornton Eildon should take confidence into next year that they can climb a few rungs on the ladder.
