Making some time for planning is imperative to a successful and sustainable club.
AFL VIC have provided a webinar on strategic planning which can be accessed here.
Benefits of Strategic Planning:
- Provides a common goal and future direction for your club and it’s stakeholders,
- Drives longer term goals,
- Becomes a summary of your club for new stakeholders like committee members, players, and prospective sponsors.
Tips for Strategic Planning:
- Get your club and the wider community involved. Create buy in from multiple parties, so your strategic plan becomes the thing your volunteers, players, and stakeholders live and breathe.
- Make sure objectives are obtainable and measurable. Your objectives, although may take time, should be achievable. Outline actions that your club will implement in order to achieve the objective and make sure you can measure how successful the club is in achieving those actions and objectives.
- Don’t rush! Strategic planning is meant to take some time in order to be effective. We know, however, our volunteers take on many roles and can sometimes be somewhat time poor, so please see below links to help begin the process.
