Scharenberg signs with Olinda Ferny Creek

Former Collingwood defender Matt Scharenberg will run out with Olinda Ferny Creek Football Netball Club in 2021, after signing with the Bloods this week.

The 25-year-old, who was taken at pick No.6 in the 2013 Draft, played 41 games for the Pies including three in 2020.

The South Australian, who endured three knee reconstructions during his seven seasons at the Magpies, is known for his composure in heavy traffic and ability to read the play.

Olinda Ferny Creek said it was “extremely pleased” to announce its newest recruit.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have Matt join us,” the Club said.

“Not only is he a highly regarded player with superb football knowledge and skills, but we have also found him to be a well-balanced, personable and quietly spoken young man who will fit into our great community-focused club environment perfectly.”
