Bunnings believe the heart of Australian footy beats beyond the oval – it lives in the communities that gather, cheer, and share moments that truly matter. It lives in the volunteers who tirelessly show up week in and week out to build their clubs up and keep them going.

That’s why they’ve launched Legend of the Tongs, a nationwide search to find, recognise, and reward the local community legends who fire up the BBQ every weekend, serving up snags in bread to raise much-needed funds for their clubs.

They’ll be searching the country for these sorcerers of the sausage, these masters of the char, and rewarding these local legends of the tongs each week over the AFL season with legendary prizes up for grabs.

Club Weekly Winners

Five Legends will be selected each week around Australia, winning a Legend of the Tongs prize pack for their club including:

– A Jumbuck Club 6 Burner and 2 Piece BBQ tool set

– 3 x 3m marquee

– Exclusive Bunnings Legend of the Tongs merchandise

They will also go into the running to be one of eight Legend of the Tongs Finalists.

Legend of the Tongs Finalists

Eight Legends will be selected from the 90 weekly winners and win a trip for 2 to attend the AFL Footy Festival & Toyota AFL Grand Final 2025. The prize will include:

– Return economy flights to Melbourne from the closest capital city

– Twin share accommodation for 4 nights from Wednesday 24th September 2025 to Sunday 28th September 2025

– 2 x tickets to the Toyota AFL Grand Final 2025

Legend of the Golden Tongs

One Legend will be crowned the Legend of the Golden Tongs at the AFL Footy Festival, winning an additional $25,000 in Bunnings product & materials for their footy club.

Nominate your Legend of the Tongs for a chance to win legendary prizes for your club.

Nominations open on Monday 7th April 2025 at 5:00 AM AEST and close at 11:59 PM AEST on Sunday 24th August 2025.
