Mount Evelyn announces Teams of the Decade

Mount Evelyn has announced its Football and Netball Teams of the Decade.

As a way to reminisce on the past decade as well as celebrate the achievements of the club, the Rovers released the two teams from 2010-2019 over a one-week period.

The key criteria to be eligible for selection was that the player or coach must have played in or coached at least 35 games for the club, however, best and fairest winners could gain automatic eligibility. 

Brian Chamberlin was handed the reigns as coach of the men’s football Team of the Decade.

Chamberlin has been a mainstay of the Rovers’ side, coaching the men’s side for the past three seasons after playing 54 games for the club.

Former club captain and AFL Yarra Ranges Life Member Steve Martin, who was positioned at half-forward in the side, was named as captain.

The Mount Evelyn stalwart led the Rovers for five seasons and is the Club’s games record holder, notching 323 over his career.

Much-loved clubman and 239-gamer Jon Dalton was selected as vice-captain. 

A Mount Evelyn Life Member, Dalton was named in the forward pocket after his key forward presence in the later stages of his career, which included him being the leading goalkicker in 2013 with 53 goals.

Kate Upton was duly recognised as coach of the Rovers’ women’s netball Team of the Decade.

The highly decorated A Grade premiership coach, who was also recognised as the league Coach of the Year, is renowned for her elite standards and ability to build connections. 

Inspirational defender Lauren Tesoriero was named as captain and wing defence in the side. 

The natural leader, who has collected two league A Grade premierships, has also made a name for herself as an established coach.

Kaitlyn Black, Mount Evelyn’s current premiership coach, was selected as vice-captain and goal defence.

Her place in the side adds to her impressive career accolades, which includes Club Best and Fairest, Interleague Representative and League Team of the Year member.
