Monbulk Junior Football Club have laced up their boots and are ready to go for season 2022.
The Hawks will field six teams this year, with strong numbers in under 9’s, under 10’s, under 11’s and under 13’s, with further numbers gained to fill the under 14’s and 18’s girl’s side.
Despite her disappointment at having to pull the pin on an under 17 boys’ team, club president Cindy Downey is excited ahead of Round One and is particularly pleased with participation numbers seen in the lower age groups.
“I am really pleased to get more girls involved at under 14 and 18 level, as well as an under 9’s team,” she said.
“We have good numbers in Auskick too which is pleasing.
“As we get closer to the seasons commencement, I am hopeful of having more kids come to the Hawks so we can fill all sides.”
The pre-season training program has also produced the goods, with excellent numbers attending overall which puts the Hawks in a good position for an exciting year.
One of the key focus areas at Monbulk is to create an engaging off-field social environment where players and families can come together, enjoy meals and have fun particularly after the disruptions of the past two seasons.
Another focal point of the Hawks this season revolves around simply getting out on the field, watching players have a good time and play to the best of their ability.
“Everything we do at Monbulk is for our junior footballers as it’s all about fun and being with your mates which is most imperative,” Downey explained.
“I would like all players representing our club to be competitive, have good sportsmanship and play really well.
“I don’t have any expectations to win a flag, but it would be exciting if one of our teams made the finals.”
