The penultimate round of the Eastern Region Women’s Competition has come and gone, with a few interesting results across the divisions.

Mt Evelyn took a step towards securing their place in the finals with a win over Donvale.

The margin was only eight points at the main break, but a three goal to one third term really opened the game for Mt Evelyn, and they were able to restrict Donvale to a goalless final term despite being held to only one goal themselves.

Isobel Urquhart kicked three goals in the win, while Chelsea Delbridge kicked two and Isabella Rennick and Jessica Smith each kicked one.

This leaves Mt Evelyn with a simple equation next week – win and they are in the finals. They don’t want to leave it down to other results going their way.

In Division One, Upwey Tecoma continued their winning ways, thrashing East Ringwood by 102 points.

Upwey Tecoma were dominant all afternoon, restricting East Ringwood to three scoreless quarters, with the Roos finishing with just one solitary goal for the day.

There were seven individual goal kickers for the Tigers in the big win. 

Alexandria Bantock kicked five, Jessica Occhipinti kicked four, Daniela Gisler kicked three, whilst Billie Pritchard, Samantha Searle, Kiana Oates and Paris Tilley each kicked one.

The win sees Upwey Tecoma secure third position on the ladder as East Ringwood have the bye next weekend, and cannot catch them.

In the Outer East Division, Thornton-Eildon have strung two wins in a row for the first time all season, defeating Yarra Junction by eight points.

It was actually the Eagles who lead at quarter time, but they were restricted to a scoreless 2^nd term and Thornton – Eildon took the lead, and led at every change after that to take the win.

Tanika Brown kicked two goals for the victors with Rose Kealy, Natasha Hay, Lucy McRae each kicking one. Meanwhile for the Eagles, Patsy Boxell kicked all three of their goals.

Despite the loss, other results mean that the Eagles secured their place in the finals.

Monbulk continued their winning ways, defeating Belgrave and severely dented the Magpies finals chances at the same time. 

Although it was not a high scoring game and the margin was only 27 points in the end, Belgrave were only able to score one goal for the entire afternoon, which did not help their cause.

Kathryn Gow was once again top of the goal kicking tally for Monbulk, this time kicking three majors as Maddison Dodd, Jessica Moseley and Shania Turner each kicked one. 

Meanwhile, Naomi Hargreaves was Belgrave’s sole goalkicker.

Finally, Healesville continued their undefeated run, with a 27 point win over bottom placed Upwey Tecoma.
