Last weekend saw the last of Outer East’s female teams compete in their respective Grand Finals.

In the Senior Women’s, Healesville were comfortable winners over Monbulk, to the tune of 42 points.

Healesville were dominant for the majority of the night, and always held a comfortable lead of at least a few goals for 90% of the evening. There was a passage of about half a quarter in the second term were Monbulk were looking really good, and looked like doing a lot of damage on the scoreboard, but were ultimately not able to.

Dannielle Jones and Jaimee Petersen kicked three goals each for the Premiers, while Debbie Watson and Candice Martin chipped in with one apiece. Dannielle Jones was awarded the best on ground medal, while Alexandra Bryan and Kelly Laidlaw also starred in the win.

Maddison Dodd was the sole goal kicker for the Hawks, while Molly Horne and Shania Turner were arguably Monbulk’s best players in a tough loss.

Not a lot seem to go right for Monbulk on Saturday night. Their kicking accuracy was really low, and when they looked promising going forward, they struggled to convert. Healesville were also just too strong, and so there were whole quarters where Monbulk didn’t even get one inside 50.

In saying that, nothing should be taken away from Healesville. They were dominant for most of the night. Their positioning to get the ball out of pack situations was excellent and their defenders were reading the play well and were able to take plenty of intercept marks. This premiership is great reward for a great season, where they were undefeated all year and didn’t ever really look like losing.

In the Under 18s, Seville were not able to get over the line over North Ringwood.

A goalless first term set up what the tale for the afternoon would be. They did finally kick a goal in the second, but that would be their only goal for the afternoon as North Ringwood ran away with a 39 point win.

Things went even worse for Mt Evelyn in their loss in the Under 16s.

Like Seville, Mt Evelyn only scored one goal for the game, but that was their only score for the afternoon. Blackburn ran away with a 50 point win, and Mt Evelyn were never really in the game.
