Mt Evelyn are back on the Eastern Region Women’s Premier Division winners list, after a seven point win over Blackburn. In a low scoring and tough affair, the scores were even at quarter time before Mt Evelyn lead at every other change and took out the win. Isabella Rennick and Isobel Urquhart each kicked a major for Mt Evelyn, while Georgia Ploegsma and Jennifer Anderson were among the best on ground for the victors.
In the battle of the Outer East Division’s undefeated sides, it was Healesville who prevailed over Monbulk. Monbulk held the lead at quarter time, but after a scoreless quarter they surrendered it to the Bloods. Healesville then had a three goals to none in the second half to take a 15 point win. Kathryn Gow was the sole goalkicker for Monbulk, while for Healesville Jaimee Petersen kicked two goals and Danielle Carrucan kicked one.
Yarra Junction registered a comfortable win over Thornton-Eildon. The margin was only nine points at quarter time, but that was when things started to go downhill for Thornton-Eildon. The margin continued to grow and in the end it was 49 points. Once again, Michelle Goldsmith was the leading goalkicker for Yarra Junction, this time kicking four, while teammate Patsy Boxell kicked three majors. Madison Oram, Natasha Hay and Yolanda Vinycomb each kicked one for Thornton-Eildon.
In the final game, Upwey Tecoma registered their first win of the season, defeating Belgrave. Upwey Tecoma led at every change to run away with the win, comfortably registering a 38 point win. Madison Walsh, Alexandria Bantock, Paris Tilley and Imogen Rennie each kicked two majors for the Tigers, while Jess Weisgerber, Joan Dekker, Chelsea Carnell were the sole goalkickers for the Magpies.
In the Under 18 Premier Division, Mt Evelyn’s horrid run continued, this time going down to Vermont. The signs were ominous early, after going scoreless in the opening term and only scoring one point in the second. In Division One, things were much better for Seville, registering a handy 18 point win over Heathmont. Although the margin was only two point at the first break, a four goal to two second term in favour of Seville set things up.
In the Under 16 Outer East Division, Yarra Glen prevailed over Emerald in a close affair. Emerald held a one point lead heading into the final term, but were only able to score a solitary point while letting Yarra Glen register a major, giving them a four point win. Upwey Tecoma also registered a tight win, this time against Seville. The half time margin was 25 points, but by the final change it was only four. In the final match, Healesville had a much easier time, defeating Yea by 41 points.
In the Under 14 Outer East Division, Olinda Ferny were 10 point victors over Belgrave after only holding a one point lead heading into the last quarter, while Jetstream comfortably defeated Healesville after keeping them scoreless for three quarters. Monbulk lead all day against Mt Evelyn, eventually winning by 13 points, while Worawa had a great win against Emerald, to the tune of 60 points.
In the Under 12 Outer East Division, there were wins to Mt Evelyn (over Healesville), Belgrave Black (over Yarra Glen) and Belgrave Pink (over Olinda Ferny Creek).
