In the first week of the under 18 finals, the Outer East sides had mixed fortunes.

In Premier Division, Mt Evelyn are out of the finals race, after losing to Blackburn.

Mt Evelyn weren’t able to score all afternoon, as the Burners ran away with the match and won by 93 points.

In Division 1, Seville survived a scare to defeat Heathmont by a mere two points.

The margin was two goals at half time, but Seville were kept scoreless in the third term and the margin was halved. Even though Heathmont outscored Seville in the final quarter, Seville were still able to hold on.

Paris Carpio and Tiara Douglas each kicked one goal in the win, while Justine Ronberg, Bridget Deed and Elizabeth Ward were among their best players.

It was also the first week of the finals in the Under 16 Premier Division, and Mt Evelyn defeated Glen Waverley Rovers.

The first quarter really set up the win for Mt Evelyn, where they were able to keep the Rovers scoreless. Although they didn’t score themselves in the 2^nd quarter, they kept Glen Waverley to only one goal two. That was in fact the only goal Glen Waverley scored all afternoon.

Riley Bradley kicked half of Mt Evelyn’s goals, with the remaining two goals coming from Hannah Ploegsma and Mackenzie Adams.

In the 16 Outer East preliminary final, Healesville were once again able to defeat Upwey Tecoma, this time by 29 points.

Upwey Tecoma actually held a three point lead at quarter time, but were not able to score in the second quarter and Healesville took a ten point lead into the main break.

A goalless quarter from the Tigers meant that Healesville were able to extend their lead to 15 points at the final change and more than doubled their score in the final term.

Madeline Sikorski kicked two goals in the win, while Breeanna Brookes, Alix McDonald, Scarlett Potter and Kaela Willemsen each kicked one for Healesville. Meanwhile, Zoe Cheslett and Amahle Huaraka each kicked one goal for the Tigers.

Last weekend saw the Grand Finals of both the Under 12 and 14 Outer East divisions.

In the Under 14s, Monbulk got the victory over Mt Evelyn by the smallest of margins.

Monbulk actually didn’t score in the middle two quarters, but in that same time period Mt Evelyn only scored one point. Mt Evelyn came back at Monbulk in the last quarter, but ultimately fell just short.

Georgia Knight kicked both of Monbulk’s goals, while Hunter Daniels and Paige Adams each kicked one goal for Mt Evelyn. Indigo Linde (Monbulk) and Jess Craig (Mt Evelyn) were adjudged best on ground for their respective sides.

In the Under 12s, Healesville managed to do what no other side has been able to do all year – defeat Belgrave Black.

Healesville led at every break, and although the lead was not very big, restricting Belgrave to three scoreless quarters set up the win for Healesville.

Jasmine Jones was Healesville’s sole goal kicker, while Brylee Anderson was adjudged best on ground for them. Meanwhile, Maya Hunter was the sole goalkicker for the Magpies, while Shelby Green was adjudged best on ground for them.
