The Coach Your Way Rookie Program aims to provide you with the knowledge, tools and support you need to confidently step in to coaching.
It’s all about coaching YOUR WAY, not about fitting the mould of the ‘traditional coach’.
As part of the Women and Girls Game Development Action Plan, Increasing the number of Women and Girls Coaching is a key element driving us towards our Women’s Football Vision.
The program includes five key components starting with attending your closest workshop which will enable you to receive your AFL Foundation Coaching Accreditation and will be provided with some digital resources to assist you in your coaching. Following the workshop, we want to see all participants take part in on the job learning by stepping into a co-coaching or assistant coaching role at their local club. Throughout the year there will also be opportunities to check-in and connect with fellow participants.
Our game and our participants need great role models, both men and women – that could be you!

FAQ -PARTICIPANTS
WILL MY ACCREOITATION BE NATIONALLY RECOGNISED?
Yes! CoachAFL accreditation is the National Accreditation standard and has been developed in conjunction with all state and territory affiliates
DOES MY FOUNDATION COACH ACCREOITATION ALLOW ME TO COACH ANY AGE GROUP?
Foundation accreditation is the first level of accreditation and provides accreditation for coaches at a community, school or recreation level. It is recommended that coaches complete the Foundation Coach course relevant to the playing age they coach. E.g. A coach of an Under 1Os team should complete the Junior Coaching Course.
WHEN DO I NEEO TO RE-ACCREDIT?
CoachAFL Memberships and Accreditation expire at the end of each calendar year on December 31. At the beginning of each season coaches need to update their membership as this is connected to your registration as a coach.
WHAT RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE?
As part of the program, you will receive a suite of resources that can be used in your coaching. As well as this, CoachAFL offers an extensive library of articles, videos, downloadable PDFs and activities (drills) you can use at
training and develop your own coaching! All of this content is exclusive to coachAFL members and is tailored to your playing group!
WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A COACHING ROLE?
As part of this program, we want to see all women go on and coach so if you don’t yet have a coaching opportunity for 2024, we would love to assist you in finding one! Please reach out to your State Coaching Lead and they will be able to assist.
