Beaconsfield struggled in 2022 after having a reasonable opening three rounds, to finish ninth with 3 wins, 1 draw and 14 losses.
Round 1 saw them narrowly go down to Monbulk (34-38), who finished 4th, defeat Mt Evelyn by 5 goals and draw with ROC, who finished third.
This was a respectable start. Unfortunately, they ran into the best two teams next, Narre Warren and Olinda Ferny Creek, who beat them convincingly.
It wasn’t until Round 15 where Beaconsfield got their next win, defeating Pakenham 37-35 after trailing at each break. Zara Treweek, Regan Brokenshire and Suzie Bourchier scored 14, 12 and 11 respectively. Gabrielle Stinear and Jordan Lang were standouts.
Three weeks later, in the final round, saw Beaconsfield finish their season on a positive note with a 46-43 win over Upwey Tecoma. Bourchier, Treweek and Brokenshire scored 18, 17 and 11 respectively with Utber enjoying a great game as well.
Despite finishing 9th, Beaconsfield had no issue putting a score on the board, averaging 33 points per game. However, they conceded 49 points per game, an area they need to work on if they want to climb a few rungs in 2023.
Their multiple scoring options for Beaconsfield were Suzie Bourchier (190), Zara Treweek (187) and Regan Brokenshire (187).
Other standout players for the year were Jordan Lang, Gabrielle Stinear, Jaime Quinn and Millie Utber.
Gabrielle Stinear’s fantastic year earned her a spot in the Team of the Year for Premier Division.
B Grade, C Grade and D Grade also all finished 9th.
