AFL OUTER EAST STRATEGIC PLAN

The AFL Outer East has released its Strategic Plan for 2020 to 2022, a document which details the Commission’s Mission, Vision, Values and Key Pillars as it looks to continue building a strong, sustainable and successful competition across all facets of the AFL Outer East community. 

The Strategic Plan will guide the operational direction of the league over the next three years. It also provides information on the community benefits of sporting clubs.

The AFL Outer East Values (Approachable, Supportive, Connected, Accountable and Trusted) and Pillars (Community, Pathways, Participation, Facilities and Organisation / People) will work alongside the AFL’s ‘Keys to Success’ – Embedding Diversity, Ultimate Collaboration and Easy Accessibility. 

All of the above will help the AFL Outer East work towards its Vision ;

Our stakeholders and our people sit at the heart of what we do and the decisions we make.
We strive to be industry leaders, respected for our innovative, collaborative approach to delivering outstanding outcomes for our community.

Accessible, inclusive and affordable, our games can be enjoyed and participated by all. 

And Mission ;

Connecting, growing and developing our communities through the games of Australian Rules Football and Netball.

Region General Manager Aaron Bailey says that this document shows that the league has the wellbeing of its clubs and communities at the forefront of its future planning and mentioned the time that had been placed into developing this strategic plan.

“Our vision outlines that our clubs and our people are at the heart of what we do and will drive our decision making.”

“The values, vision and mission were developed over the past 12 months working with Leading Teams and alike,”

“These values will underpin the work of the staff and commission of  the AFL Outer East.”

Mr Bailey went on to say that the AFL Outer East is clear on where they would like to go, and aim to be as transparent as possible with its members, who are the lifeblood of the competition.

“We are clear on what we want to build with AFL Outer East and will continue to be transparent in our vision to deliver what, in many ways, has previously been an ambitious vision,”

“To do this we need to continue to make brave, transparent decisions to deliver outstanding outcomes for our community,”

“But the bottom line is that our core responsibility is providing quality football and netball experiences for our participants,”

“We need to ensure that both football and netball are accessible, inclusive, affordable and can be enjoyed and participated in by all.”

AFL Outer East Commission Chair Tony Mitchell echoed Mr Bailey’s thoughts around transparency and communication with the competitions members and said that this document, along with the previously published Future Direction of Football document, provides that transparency.

“The AFL Outer East strategic plan, in partnership with the Future Direction document provides a clear vision for the region,”

“It is crucial that we continue to engage with our stakeholders during the implementation of this plan and ensure that the voices of our clubs continue to be heard.”

Mr Mitchell hopes that this document will show stakeholders the pathway that the AFL Outer East is planning to take.

“The approach of our staff and commission is now clear to our stakeholders,”

“Through the development of our core values we have set a clear vision for the region, with our strategic priorities guiding the operations of the region and determining where we allocate our time and resources.”
