The AFL Outer East has confirmed the departure of Media & Marketing Coordinator Grace Kalac and welcomes Lachlan Shaw to the role, just in time for the 2021 season.
Commencing the role in October 2020, Kalac leaves after just six months to take up other opportunities but has made a valuable contribution after her short time with the league.
“While I am sad to be departing after a short period of time, I am really proud of the work that I’ve completed and feel confident about passing the role into a safe pair of hands in Lachy,” Kalac said.
“The AFL Outer East is a fantastic organisation to be part of and I leave here having made great friendships with my colleagues in the office.”
Regional General Manager Aaron Bailey thanked Kalac for her service to the league and wished her well for the future.
“Although her time with us was short, Grace made a valuable contribution to the organisation, continuing upon great relationships with our stakeholders.”
“We wish Grace all the best with her future endeavours and thank her for the commitment she displayed with the league during her time with us.”
Stepping into the Media & Marketing Coordinator role is Lachlan Shaw, who joins AFL Outer East having recently completed a successful internship with the league in roles pertaining to media, marketing, and commercial partnerships.
Freshly graduated from the Bachelor of Sports Media at Holmesglen Institute, Shaw has also completed internships with Motorsport Australia and AusCycling over the past six months.
Launching into his new role just as the season is about to begin, Shaw is excited about jumping into a new role straight out of university and looks forward to being involved with the league for the 2021 season.
“This is a fantastic role for me to begin my career in sports communications,” Shaw said.
“Residing in the Outer East region myself, I am really looking forward to working with the team at AFL Outer East as we deliver upon the fruition of the hard work in hosting a community competition again.”
Bailey expressed his delight at Shaw’s appointment and is looking forward to working with him as the season kicks off in a few weeks’ time.
“After completing his internship with us where he was tasked with multiple projects, Lachy has really earned his opportunity with us,” Bailey stated.
“The dedication and resilience he displayed during his internship was outstanding and the abilities he displayed in media and marketing will be hugely beneficial to the region.”
