The AFL Outer East is pleased to release its 2019 Annual Report to the public after a very successful year for both the Commission and the League.
The AFL Outer East’s financial performance this year exceeded all expectations. Not only did the organisation record an operating profit of $177,243, they were also able to clear all debts and write off all discontinued stock.
League Region General Manager Aaron Bailey, says this result can not be played down, especially given the fact that the League changed its headquarters on two occasions throughout the year, initially exchanging offices with ATC Energy in Lilydale, before making the move to Kilsyth Recreation Reserve with NAB League outfit Eastern Ranges.
“This is an important result for the commission, as it provides long term financial stability for the region,” said Mr Bailey.
“Pleasingly, on top of this strong operating profit, we were able to also clear all debts and excess inventory from previous years,”
“To achieve this in a year where we completed a move into a new facility allows the AFL Outer East to enter season 2020 in an outstanding position.”
Mr Bailey says that the number one focus for the AFL Outer East in 2020 will be investing in the clubs and participants within the AFL Outer East, as the league look to bring down overall costs for clubs, as well as increase resources around club welfare, development and well-being.
This process has already begun via the rolling out of TD Solutions (Terry Dillon) to facilitate a club health check and provide a strategic plan for all clubs within the region.
The AFL Outer East Commission also announced at the Annual General Meeting the introduction of a new initiative “Our Shout”, a program that supports AFL Outer East clubs, via alcohol and illicit substance education, enabling the development of welcoming, inclusive functions, game day environments and cultures.
These programs come on top of the recent AFL Victoria announcement that there will be no AFL Victoria Affiliation fees in 2020. This provides significant savings for all AFL Outer East clubs.
“Our focus now is to continue to identify areas we can bring costs down for clubs and pass on those savings to volunteers and participants,”
“2020 will see significant investment in clubs and participants, with over $70,000 of investment in welfare, well-being and club development being rolled out across the region.”
