Expressions of Interest
Outer East Football Netball (OEFN) is seeking expressions of interest for Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches for our Under 13, 14, 15 Boys and Under 14 and 16 Girls Interleague program in 2025.
The role of an interleague coach is to lead and develop young players from various clubs across OEFN, and any applicants must be willing to commit to the full interleague program including training sessions, trial matches and interleague fixtures.
The goal is to foster an environment that motivates players to engage with the program, creating an understanding of playing your role in a team environment and encouraging an enjoyable, but high performing program that our players can learn and develop in.
You will work closely with, and under guidance and direction of, the OEFN Interleague High Performance Lead and OEFN Junior Operations Coordinator to align your coaching strategies with the OEFN overall development goals.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

Provide high-quality coaching that focuses on individual and team skill development, game understanding, and player wellbeing and development.

Work closely with the OEFN Interleague team, particularly the OEFN Interleague High Performance Lead, to select a balanced and competitive squad through our trial, assessment and selection process.

Plan, organise, and conduct training sessions to best prepare the team for competition time. Sessions should be engaging, educational, and tailored to the needs of the players. You should also be able to provide constructive feedback to players on their performance to assist with their ongoing learning and development.

Team management on match days, including game planning, tactical adjustments, and player management and wellbeing.

Maintaining open and clear communication, whether this is with players, parents, OEFN staff, and/or other stakeholders.

Be a positive role model and mentor for all players, leading by example in setting expectations and instilling core values such as teamwork, effort, positive mindsets, growth and improvement, respect and resilience.

Work collaboratively with the OEFN Interleague High Performance Lead and OEFN Junior Operations Coordinator to ensure alignment with the league’s coaching philosophies and strategic objectives.

Ensure all coaching practices comply with OEFN policies, including child safety standards, and uphold the OEFN code of conduct.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
-
A Level 1 or higher Coaching Accreditation from the AFL
-
Proven experience in coaching Junior Football

Clear communication and strong leadership skills, enabling you to influence, encourage and guide young players, as well as communicate effectively with other stakeholders such as parents and OEFN staff members

Deep understanding of the modern game, including the ability to implement coaching strategies and game plans and to conduct effective training sessions

Strong planning and organization skills to ensure players and parents are aware of program logistics such as training times and venues, match day requirements and more

All applicants MUST have a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) or be willing to obtain one before the commencement of the program in order to be considered.
