Berwick will be eager to feature heavily in finals again after falling agonisingly short in the Grand Final against Seville.
In 2023 Berwick are in Premier Division and are well in contention for the Premiership, despite having to play against sides like Olinda Ferny Creek and Narre Warren.
Anyone who witnessed Berwick last year will know they aren’t out of their depth in Premier Division and this was higlighted by the fact the only two games they lost were to the Premiers Seville. Berwick also showed remarkable resilience after finding themselves six goals down, to reclaim the lead late before ultimately going down by a solitary goal.
Berwick were a prolific scoring team, managing 53 (which sits right between what Narre Warren and Olinda Ferny Creek scored last year) goals per game, whilst their stingy defence only conceded 26 per game.
11 times they managed to score 50+, with five of these being 60+.
Their greatest score in 2022 came in Round 4 where they amassed a whopping 99 goals. They have stars on every line and their great work was finished off by Emily Pupuke (Team of the Year) and Emma Clarke with 452 and 478 goals respectively, finishing as the top two goal scorers for Div 1.
Olivia Macente and Lainey Bidwell also made Team of the Year in 2022 in the Centre and Wing Defence respectively, whilst Danielle Hanley and Kyla Quinn had strong seasons.
Whilst the move to Premier Division could provide a challenge with two very strong sides in Narre Warren and Olinda Ferny Creek standing in their way, Berwick arguably have the talent and the grit to give the Premier Division Premiership a red hot crack.
