Men’s Football
Belgrave look to climb the ladder in 2023 after a winless 2022 campaign and should be aided by a host of players on the recruitment front, including talented key-position player Chris Wescott from Boronia (EFL), Chris Campbell from Mazenod (Premier C in VAFA), Noble Park’s Josh Wynen, Daniel Ryan, who was the runner up BnF in the u19’s at Lilydale and Vladimir Stefancevic from Endeavour Hills.
Less injuries would also go a long way to seeing Belgrave improve as well as the knowledge that they came very close to winning on a few occasions in 2022.
They were ranked 4th for scoring efficiency in 2022 at 53.9%, showing they can convert. They will be after a larger supply to the forward line and look to record some wins in 2023.
Women’s Football
The women’s footy side will be itching to get out there in 2023 after falling short in the Conference 2 Grand Final by one straight kick to Monbulk, a team they had the better of multiple times.
You’d expect fire in the belly of the Belgrave women who look to go one step further this season. This will be helped by the news of some important re-signings including the likes of the Weisgerbers, Nicole Baboucek, Catherine Smith, Abigail Wilson and more.
Belgrave will be looking to keep up their excellent defence in 2023, having conceded the fourth lowest score per game at 33 and will be excited to test themselves and go that one step further.
Netball
Belgrave look to make the step into finals next year after finishing 5th in 2022. They were four games out of the 4, however if their two losses against Yarra Glen were wins, they’d have finished on equal wins with them.
Their scoring power was quite decent with 38 goals per game; however, they’d be looking to improve team defence, conceding over 50 goals per game. Improving their team defence would well and truly put them in finals contention in 2023, which sets up as an exciting opportunity to make finals.
