GRAND FINAL PREVIEW
Belgrave completed the Home and Away season with a 6/6 record which allowed them to place first in their conference. Both of their H & A meetings against Monbulk came in the later stages of this season with each team taking a victory. Belgrave are a pretty even side across the lines and have a good spread of contributors, which will be a key component if they are to achieve victory. It was this evenness which gave them victory in the semi-final over Monbulk, and at times allowed them to hold their own against the conference one teams.
Monbulk will be looking to achieve a result one better than they did back in 2019. Their team is much different than it was three years ago but has deserved there spot in this year’s decider by playing some great football and taking the game on. It’s this key strength of Monbulk which could cause Belgrave some headaches, especially on a smaller ground. Accuracy was Monbulk’s key to defeating Belgrave in Round 15. If there forwards and running mid fielders are on fire in this area, it sure will make things difficult for Belgrave.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Belgrave Coach Julian Schill
“We are thrilled to play in the Grand Final, all the hard work dating back to when we started pre-season in November has come to fruition. It’s been a privilege to see how far the women have come with every training session leading us into Sunday! We can’t wait to play and enjoy the experience of a Grand Final!”
Monbulk Coach Sacha Wolfe
“I believe this grand final between Belgrave and Monbulk will be a hard and even contest with not a lot of open space to move. The team who can open up the game first will be a hard team to beat. That said we have a solid defence and a hard working midfield to create opportunities for our forwards who last time struggled to convert on the scoreboard but new game chance for a new result good luck to both teams.”
