Simone Traynor reached the milestone of 200 games for Powelltown last weekend against Kinglake.
Simone is one of 3 players who have played every season of netball for Powelltown who started it netball program in 2007.
Simone has been a wonderful servant to the club as a player & coach and was an important member of their first premiership team – A Grade in 2009 – and then backed it up in 2010 when the club won premierships in all grades. In 2011 Simone was a member of Powelltown’s runner-up A Grade team, then won another premiership in B Grade in 2012, where she was awarded Best on Court.
Simone has spent most of her career in defence, where she was a strong and reliable defender, but has recently made the change into the attacking goal circle, where she leads by example and never gives up. She has won many awards at both ends of the court.
Simone coached C & D Grade very successfully between 2014 & 2018, and in 2019 she is taking a break from coaching to concentrate on playing.
In 2017 Simone played her first game with daughter Sonja and has played many games with her since.
Simone has always been a fantastic club person, willing to help out where required, and is very supportive of all players in all grades.
Simone is a true Demon & champion of the club, which isn’t bad considering she was only planning to ‘fill-in’ for a couple of games in 2007!
