2020 SENIOR FIXTURES

The AFL Outer East has released its fixture lists for the 2020 season, a season which will see six clubs entering new divisions, a senior debut for Berwick Springs and the welcoming of Broadford from the Riddell District Football Netball League.

Similar to last season the Totally Workwear Berwick and Knoxfield Premier Division Season will see games moved from later rounds to kick off the year, with two Good Friday (10/4) fixtures in the top division.

Newcomers Doveton will unfurl their 2019 Division One flag when they host reigning (Premier Division) premier Narre Warren, whilst Cranbourne host Beaconsfield in the battle of the Eagles to set the 2020 season off.

Both of these fixtures were scheduled to take place in Round Four.

Narre Warren will unfurl their own premiership flag in Round One (18th of April) in the first Grand Final re-match of the year against Berwick, whilst Wandin host Woori Yallock, Cranbourne travel to Upwey Tecoma, Pakenham play their first Premier Division game at home to Beaconsfield and Olinda Ferny Creek unfurl their A Grade Netball flag when they entertain Doveton.

PREMIER DIVISION ROUND ONE

Round Two sees a full fixture of Anzac games with Beaconsfield hosting Narre Warren, Wandin taking on Upwey Tecoma at home, while Berwick will travel to Doveton, Olinda Ferny Creek will make the trip out to Pakenham and Woori Yallock and Cranbourne will do battle at Woori.

Round Three sees Berwick hosting Beaconsfield the first Battle of the Creek for 2020, with the return leg occurring in Round 12. Cranbourne will have to wait til Round Six for another crack at Olinda Ferny Creek, in the first A Grade Grand Final re-match of the year. Whilst the last of the Grand Final re-matches occurs the following week as Pakenham host Doveton.

Pakenham have eight of their nine home games in the first nine rounds of the season due to a pavilion upgrade at Toomuc Reserve. Their last home game is in Round 12.

Wandin also have a skewed fixture list for the same reason. Their last home game is in Round 15.

Finals begin Saturday 5th of September with the Grand Final remaining on the Friday before the AFL’s showpiece (25th of September).

 

The Hallam and Bayswater Truck Centre Division One Season opens its account on the 18th of April, with Round One seeing Monbulk host the relegated Healesville in the Hawks 1000th game, Seville unfurling their Division Two flag against Emerald, whilst Belgrave will be the venue for Berwick Springs first ever senior fixture and Officer take on Gembrook Cockatoo in what shapes as a the first match in blossoming local rivalry.

Mount Evelyn start their year off with the bye.

The Rovers will get the chance to unfurl their A Grade Flag on Anzac Day as they host Seville, Emerald and Gembrook-Cockatoo will reignite their rivalry at the Hangar, Berwick Springs travel to Healesville and Monbulk take on Officer at home.

Berwick Springs play their first home game in Round Three against Emerald, the 2019 A Grade Netball Grand Final re-match takes place in Round Nine as Mount Evelyn host Monbulk and Gembrook-Cockatoo also play their 1000th game in 2020, in Round 10 against Officer.

Finals begin on Sunday the 30th of August, with the decider taking place on the 20th of September, also a Sunday.

The ATC Traffic Division Two season sees a number of local rivalries given the chance to grow, as Warburton Millgrove join neighbours Yarra Junction and Powelltown in the same division, whilst Broadford get to visit local sides in Yea, Alexandra, Thornton Eildon and Kinglake.

Round One will see exactly that, as Yea head out to Broadford as the Roos host their first ever game in the AFL Outer East. Elsewhere Yarra Glen take on Alexandra at home, Yarra Junction and Powelltown play their traditional Round One fixture at the Eagles nest and Warburton Millgrove will  travel to Thornton Eildon for their first game in Division Two.

DIVISION TWO ROUND ONE

The Anzac Round sees Kinglake and Powelltown reunite for the first time since their 2019 Semi Final encounter, Broadford have another home fixture against Yarra Glen, whilst two local battles finish off the round, with Warburton Millgrove taking on Yarra Junction at home and Alexandra host Thornton Eildon.

Warburton Millgrove play another local rival in Powelltown (at Powelltown) in Round Three whilst Yea finally unfurl their A Grade Netball flag when they host Yarra Glen. The Pride Cup returns in Round Four with the River Pigs hosting Powelltown for the 2020 edition.

Unlike the other divisions, Division Two will go ahead on Queens Birthday Weekend, with Alexandra playing Yarra Junction at home, Broadford hosting Powelltown, Kinglake entertaining the Burras and Yea playing Thornton Eildon at home.
